При покупке манго главным ориентиром будет не цвет плода, а его запах. Сортов манго довольно много и цвет кожицы может сильно отличаться от привычной глазу картинки. Аромат подскажет спелый ли плод или начал слегка прокисать и бродить. Кожица должна быть целой, упругой, без вмятин и пятен, с небольшим блеском.

На родине манго из него готовят много блюд, но, конечно же, весь букет пользы раскрывается, если есть манго свежим, просто, как фрукт или добавлять во фруктовые салаты, коктейли или мороженое.

При очистке манго и удалении косточки необходимо проявлять осторожность.
